Roland DGA’s advanced digital imaging technologies, along with the company’s unique interactive booth experience, attracted plenty of attention at SIGGRAPH 2019 – the world’s largest computer graphics
conference. Attendees at SIGGRAPH, which took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, got a firsthand look at Roland’s latest devices and had the opportunity to use them to create their own personalized show souvenirs.
Visitors to the Roland DGA booth were able to print images from their smartphones directly onto notebooks or tote bags using Roland’s cotodesign app and a VersaUV® LEF-300 flatbed printer or VersaSTUDIO BT-12 direct-to-garment printer, respectively. This gave show-goers the opportunity to get familiar with the company’s cutting-edge technologies by producing uniquely decorated items they could take home from the show. In all, Roland booth visitors created over 1,500 personalized items over the course of the event. In addition to showcasing the LEF-300 and BT-12, Roland DGA also displayed its MDX-540 benchtop CNC mill and BN-20 desktop inkjet printer/cutter at SIGGRAPH 2019.
“Having our flatbed printer and five direct-to-garment printers in the booth, along with our cotodesign app, gave a large number of attendees the chance to get up close and personal with our technology,” said Roland DGA Application Specialist Kevin Rosen. “Attendees were amazed at how simple our devices are to operate, and how they make customizing practically anything easier than ever.”
Roland’s largest UV-LED benchtop flatbed printer, the VersaUV LEF-300 allows users to print vibrant, CMYK graphics, as well as eye-catching textural and dimensional effects (using Gloss and White inks) on a vast array of substrates and three-dimensional objects up to 3.94 inches thick. Roland also offers a mid-size (20-inch) VersaUV LEF2-200 flatbed printer, along with a compact (12-inch) LEF-12i model.
The VersaSTUDIO BT-12 direct-to-garment printer makes printing directly on cotton-based shirts and accessories easy, efficient and cost-effective. With the BT-12, users can print full color graphics on T-shirts, tote bags, interior décor items, and more. Its small footprint and attractive pricing allow individuals and businesses to personalize products with a low initial investment and in locations where space may be limited, such as retail shops, kiosks, gift stores, tourist destinations, and special event venues.
