ASI’s Popular “Promo in the Wild” Social Media Campaign Returns

Online summer campaign highlights power and reach of promo products

The Advertising Specialty Institute® (ASI) today announced the return of its popular, award-winning social media campaign, Promo in the Wild, which demonstrates the far reach of promo products by inviting industry members to join in the fun by tagging and posting pics of logoed items spotted “in the wild.”

Through August 31, industry members can compete for gift cards by participating in the online campaign, creating social media posts with the hashtag #PromoInTheWild and tagging one of four ASI social media accounts.

The 2020 campaign generated thousands of impressions along with positive feedback across industry social media channels, while sparking meaningful conversations about promotional items.

“As our lives start returning to normal, it’s time to tap our creativity, enjoy a little summer fun and spread the word about our industry’s affordable, effective logoed products,” said Timothy M. Andrews, ASI president and chief executive officer. “As soon as you start looking, I’m betting you’ll see promo products everywhere – while traveling, on the beach, in restaurants, on the street, even in your own car, home or office, proving that promo power really is everywhere.”

Here’s how it works:

1. Spot a promo product “In the Wild,” like a beach towel emblazoned with a team logo, a branded can cooler seen at a family BBQ or a logoed cap or T-shirt spied at the grocery store. Or take a selfie sporting your own promo items.
2. Create a fun post for social media.
3. Use hashtag #PromoInTheWild in the caption.
4. Tag ASI on one of the following:

Starting July 1 and ending Aug. 31, ASI will choose one post per week and award its creator with a $25 Amazon gift card. In 2020, ASI selected four winning posts from among hundreds of online posts.

“The response to the initial launch of this campaign in 2020 was incredible – better than I could have imagined,” said Melissa Newman, ASI social media manager. “I knew then that I wanted to make this a recurring, signature campaign for ASI. Promo in the Wild unites our industry around a common conviction and that’s the power and ubiquity of promo products in our lives.”

The initial campaign also earned several awards, including a Gold from the Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals, and a national Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Use of Social Media for Newman.
